Don’t Wait Too Long
Finding your wedding dress should be exciting, not stressful. Starting too late can leave you feeling rushed and may limit your choices, especially when you need time for ordering and alterations. Rush orders and expedited alterations can also come with additional fees.
Ideally, start shopping 10–12 months before your wedding and aim to have your gown selected and ordered approximately 8–10 months before your big day. If you’re working with a shorter timeline, don’t worry—Blissful Bridal offer gowns that are available off the rack or can work quickly to accommodate most shorter timelines.
Before you book your first Appointment
Take a little time to research each boutique. Every bridal shop has different designers, styles, price ranges, sizing, inventory, and appointment policies.
Check each boutique’s website, read recent reviews, and ask recently married friends for recommendations. You can also call ahead to ask about their gown selection, price range, sizes, and availability.
Doing a little research beforehand helps ensure you’re visiting boutiques that fit your style, budget, and timeline—and can save you from disappointment if the dress you’re looking for isn’t available.

Who Should You Bring to Your Bridal Appointment?
Movies and TV shows often make wedding dress shopping look like the more people you bring, the more fun it will be. While having your closest family and friends there can make the experience special, too many opinions can sometimes make finding your dress more complicated.
We recommend bringing people who are supportive, honest, and positive—those who will respect your vision and help keep the experience fun. There’s a big difference between “That dress doesn’t look good on you” and “I’m not sure that style is the best fit for you.” Choose guests who will offer thoughtful feedback while keeping the focus on what you love.
Our Guest Policy
To provide every bride with a relaxed and personalized experience, we ask that you limit your support group to a maximum of four guests. A smaller group allows you to focus on your bridal stylist’s guidance and enjoy discovering the gown that feels right for you.
Bring your smile, an open mind, and inspiration photos! Our experienced bridal stylists are here to help you explore different styles and find the wedding dress you’ll love.
Want to Bring a Larger Group?
We understand that you may have several special people you’d like to include. If you wish to bring a larger group, please contact us before booking so we can discuss a suitable appointment time.
You can also include additional family and friends in other special moments, such as your accessory appointment, final fitting, or dress pickup, so they can share in your bridal journey.
Thank you for helping us create a memorable, comfortable, and personalized bridal shopping experience at Blissful Bridal, Calgary's trusted bridal boutique.

It’s finally happening!
You’ve scheduled your appointment at Blissful Bridal and you’re counting down the days until your visit.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
For most brides, wedding dress shopping is unfamiliar territory. You may be wondering, “what do I bring to my appointment?” As always, we’ve got you covered!
Our team has compiled a comprehensive list of our tips and items to bring that will leave you feeling prepared for a successful day of dress shopping.
Inspiration: It’s time to put your Instagram and Pinterest boards to work! Daydream about your special day and sift through social media, Blissful Bridal online web pages, or even magazines for inspiration. Consider how you want to look and feel on your wedding day. From your personal style to your personality, your wedding dress should be a direct reflection of the most elevated version of yourself.
Our bridal stylists recommend browsing Blissful Bridal gowns through the designers our website and marking down the designers’ styles dresses of interest. Please make it known to your personal bridal stylist if there is a specific gown you are hoping to try on during your appointment.
If it feels as though your inspiration is scattered, no need to worry! This is completely normal and it is important to trust your personal bridal stylist to help you narrow your vision.
Your Budget: Before choosing your gown, think about your budget. Remember, accessories and alterations will be extra. Share your budget openly with your stylist to ensure we find your dream gown within your price range and make the most of your visit.
Undergarments: First and foremost, the Blissful Bridal team’s first priority is that you feel the utmost comfort and confidence from the moment you walk into our showroom. The only item that is required during your bridal appointment is any type of panty or underwear due to sanitation reasons. Everything else is optional!
Cups and boning within traditional wedding gowns provide structure and support. For most brides, it eliminates the need for a bra entirely. For this reason, our bridal stylists typically suggest forgoing a bra during your appointment. Of course, you are welcome to bring a strapless bra or any type of adhesive bra if it makes you feel the most comfortable. Any variation of shape wear, especially those that are nude and seamless, is optional but sometimes helpful to obtain a better vision especially if you’re planning on wearing it on your wedding day.
Hair Style: It's a good idea to consider your wedding day hairstyle when deciding how to manage your hair during fittings. By emulating your intended hairstyle, you can better visualize how the gown will look on the actual day. Some brides even opt to schedule their hair or makeup trial on the same day as their dress appointment to fully envision their bridal look.
Tans: It's important to refrain from getting a fresh spray tan before the appointment to ensure the cleanliness of the sample gowns for all brides. This consideration helps maintain the quality and integrity of the gowns for everyone's enjoyment during fittings.
Shoes: It’s often recommended to go barefoot during most of your appointment, as this makes trying on gowns easier and more comfortable. However, wearing socks is advised to protect your feet. Pedestals are provided for the bride trying on gowns to offer a gentle lift while viewing each dress in the main showroom.
If you plan to wear heels on your wedding day, you’re welcome to bring a pair along. Even if they aren’t the exact ones you’ll wear, slipping on similar shoes once you’ve found your favourite gown can help you better envision your complete bridal look and feel more confident in your choice.
As part of maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for all guests, we kindly ask that outside footwear be removed upon arrival. Please bring indoor shoes or socks for your comfort during the appointment. We also ask that no outside beverages, including coffee or other drinks, be brought into the boutique
Remain open to the possibilities: Before you step into our showroom, take a moment to reflect on your own beauty and the significance of this special moment.
Enter with a positive and open mindset, reminding yourself of the joy and excitement that comes with finding your dream dress.
Keep in mind that many brides end up selecting a gown that surprises them, and your perfect dress may come sooner or later than you expect. It's all part of the journey.
Remember, choosing your wedding dress is a deeply emotional decision. Trust your instincts and embrace the experience without any regrets.

We understand that finding the right dress is a celebratory event, but our bridal boutique is an alcohol-free zone. We kindly ask that customers refrain from bringing champagne, bubbly drinks, or outside beverages such as coffee or other drinks to their appointment. If there's anything else you need assistance with, please let us know — we're here to make your experience enjoyable and memorable.

Many brides ask, "Is $2,000 expensive for a wedding dress?" The answer is no. In Canada, the average wedding dress typically costs $1,500–$2,500, making a $2,000 budget right in the middle of the average range for a quality designer bridal gown.
At Blissful Bridal, we offer beautiful wedding dresses for every budget:
Bridal Gowns: $500–$5,000
Discount Wedding Dresses: Limited selection from $499–$1,000
Formal & Evening Gowns: $300–$2,000
Before your bridal appointment, we recommend setting a budget and sharing it with your bridal stylist. This allows us to select wedding dresses within your price range, making your shopping experience more enjoyable and stress-free.
Remember to budget for alterations, taxes, and accessories, which are separate from the cost of the gown.
Whether you're looking for an affordable wedding dress in Calgary or a designer bridal gown, our experienced stylists will help you find the perfect dress to match your style, timeline, and budget.
